Weekend Vibes
For those who wish to travel by M2M from Mumbai to Alibaug, here are some insights on how one can go about the booking and what you can expect to experience during the ride
I have commuted in M2M quite a lot during the last six months, and during every single commute, my experience has just been awesome. hence, I keep falling in love with this mode of transport, as it offers an absolute curtain-raiser on what one can expect while travelling on a cruise…. Ok… now, this may be a little too far-fetched …yes, I am a little biased. However, I am most certain that everyone who will travel using this mode will fall for it, one reason being that it has never been late even for a single minute and the second is the fresh breeze of the sea.
You can board the M2M at the Mumbai Terminal Wharf, more popularly known as Bhaucha Dhakka. This takes you to Mandwa, about 19 km away from Alibaug.
So, apart from punctuality and a cool breeze, what does M2M have to offer? It can also ferry your car for an additional Rs 1,200/— and your two-wheelers at a reasonable price.
To book in advance, go to their website: https://m2mferries.com. You can choose to book one-way or round-trip tickets. You can also buy them at the terminal, but I will not suggest this as the ferry can be full many times, and on-spot tickets may not be available, proverbially speaking, toppling your apple cart. Booking tickets on the website is easy and convenient, with an easy-to-use booking menu. While the Ferry itself takes 1 hour, you need to be there 45 minutes before the Scheduled Sail, and the commute from Mandwa Port to Alibaug is another 45 minute’s drive
So what does a Roro ride have to offer???
Skoda Superb Lounge
If you want to experience the Opulence, go for Skoda Superb Lounge, for which a commute would cost Rs 1,500/— on Weekdays and Rs 2,000/— on a weekend for a single person. What you get is a Complimentary Drink and Snacks Platter; what you miss is the beautiful sea view. I think the ticket cost is too high without a sea view!
Skoda Kushaq Zone
Whereas a less luxurious but more breezy ride is available on Skoda Kushaq Zone @ Rs 420/- on weekdays and Rs 590/- on weekends. So here you have access to the Skoda Observation Deck and a Large Airconditioned Lounge with a Cafe and a Seating Area. They play peppy dance numbers on weekends, and more often than not, the passengers do shake a leg.
To sum up, it is easy to book online, very professionally organized, smooth sailing, and absolutely on time. It also has a separate pet area. Moreover, they have services available for senior citizens. It is a Great Experience and undoubtedly worth it for those living in South Mumbai.
Note: For those living in the Suburbs of Mumbai, the land route is a better and quicker option and takes just about 3 hours. Otherwise, An Hour’s commute to Bhaucha Dhakka, an hour of the Ferry itself, a minimum of 25 minutes before reporting time, and a 45-minute commute from Mandwa to Alibaug will approximately lead to a 3.5- to 4-hour journey, which could be more daunting.
It is my first attempt at writing a blog, so please support me with feedback… Hopefully, I will return with another one soon… Until then… Chaao…and Good Bye!
